Went to the doctor today to get a medical history paper filled out. Turns out I have no history on file of my immunization shots so I have to go get a blood test done to see what shots I have had done (I didn't know you could do such a thing). Yahhhhh, blood work! :P

Adopting a Child from Ethiopia
Pure and genuine religion in the sight of God the Father means caring for orphans and widows in their distress and refusing to let the world corrupt you.--James 1:27 NIV
So I think that about this time next year I could be the father of a child that was born in Ethiopia. I have always wanted to be a father but it was not until I met my wife Kim that I started to entertain the idea of adopting.
Kim told me right from the get go that she wanted to adopt - and to be honest I did not want to. I wanted to have "my own" children. I still had the view that a child is not yours unless he/she is biological. There are several things that helped steer my heart to where is is now.
Like I said before Kim told me that she wanted to adopt and that if I was going to marry her one day I had to be willing to adopt, I said yes of course - but I really did not mean it. I just loved her and wanted to marry her :) We eventually had some long talks about how we felt, we prayed, and God started showing me how beautiful adoption is and I started to understand why Kim felt this way - because I was beginning to feel the same way.
My second inspiration was the Watsons. The Watsons are good friends of ours, Kim lived with them for a few years. They have an adopted son, Ben. Through my relationship with Ben and their family and other friends who have adopted I have completely changed my view on what adoption is. It is not a backup plan but actually a privilege.
I will be blogging often about our adoption with updates on how it is going, although for a more in-depth look at our adoption please look at our adoption blog here.
I'm back!

I will post thing about my life that I wish to share, stories that I find interesting, movie reviews, and youtube videos. So keep checking back, I will do my best to show interesting things :)
